How many brochures should I order?

An Avon brochure is the equivalent of a brick & mortar store front. It’s in your best interest to hand out or mail as many brochures per campaign as you can afford.

What’s my reference code?

Your reference code to invite new Avon sales reps to your team is the name you picked out when you first created your account. For instance, mine is my first name ‘silke’.

Another way to find this code is by logging into your account. Click on ‘My Account’ on the top right-hand side of the screen, then click on ‘My Profile’. Where do I find Avon bags?

Many new Reps don’t even know that Avon offers product bags at a fairly low cost, starting at under $1 for 50 of them.

To order Avon bags, log into account. Add the 6 digit product number for the bags you want to your next order. Most bags are sold in bundles of 10 or 50. Visit New Rep Resources for Avon bags product numbers, tips on placing your first order and more.

Do I need to buy samples?

It’s a good idea to have a few samples on hand. I always like to include a fragrance sample card with my Thank You cards.

Lots of customers like to try a product like face lotion or serum before making a purchase.

Handing out samples will increase your sales

Again, don’t go broke buying samples, but try to keep a few on hand at all times. You can also very easily make your own samples. Check out my Avon Rep Resources page for more information.

How often should I follow up with a customer?

There’s a fine line between being a helpful consultant and an annoying sales person. On average I contact my customers and potential customers once per campaign, unless I get a vibe that I’m overstepping.

It helps to keep a customer contact spreadsheet with your brochure drop off and last contact dates. Send me an email if you want a copy of mine.

Do I need a Facebook page?

If you want to promote your business on Facebook, then YES, you should have a separate business page apart from your personal profile.

A page is easy to set up and you can advertise your online store, share specials and live videos, as well as whatever makes you happy. Try to keep it to 80% fun stuff and 20% marketing materials.

How many social media sites should I use?

If you don’t have a lot of spare time, keep it to one or two social media sites. Facebook, Instagram and/or Pinterest are the best choices right now.

It’s better not to spread yourself too thin, over too many different sites, instead keep posting consistently and at regular intervals!

To successful market your business online you need to learn how to network effectively. So keep it simple starting out and slowly build your reach over time.

Are local events worth my time?

Definitely! Local events are a great way to reach a bunch of people at the same time.

You could set up a table event to sell products just about anywhere. Take a look at my Avon Table Event Tips for some great ideas.

Also, you don’t need a huge inventory on hand to hold a table event. A couple of products, even ones you use yourself will do to share with your potential  customers. Let them try a little and they’ll want to place an order for more.

Bring some brochures, a free Avon order book, a few recruiting flyers and your business cards. Viola! You’re ready for your first table event.

Do I need to attend conventions?

Yes!!! But only if you can afford it. Don’t go broke or go into debt over it, there’s always next year. That being said, large conventions are usually held once a year, that gives you plenty of time to save up for it. There are lots of incentives offered to all Reps to make attending as easy as possible.

You will walk away inspired, full of energy, will have met many of your fellow amazing Reps, learned a ton and probably earned some swag.

How long before I receive my first online order?

Getting an online order is not as easy as it seems, unless you enter the order yourself or know the person. To get a complete stranger to order from you online will take time and lots of effort on your part.

First, there are so many places to shop online. Think about how a potential customer might find your store online. Second, are you placing your online content in front of the right audience? If you share lots of ‘make-up on sale’ promos, then you want to target people looking for make-up on sale.

To get your first online order from a person you don’t know can take 6 month or longer. It all depends on what you share, how often and the size of your audience.
